future of Friction
March 29, 2023 - Leverkusen

Once Upon a time...
LIQFRIC started as an innovative project by a start-up from Leverkusen, Germany in 2016 / 2017.
At that time, it was common to import raw materials for brake pads from all over the world to press them under high pressure and high temperatures and to connect them with a carrier medium.
Not only was an enormous amount of energy used, but other negative effects had already presented themselves during production in the form of formaldehyde and dust pollution, as well as later on in street use in the form of fine particle emissions.
The founders of the start-up, who are familiar with these problems from years of experience in the industry, pursued the goal of finding an intelligent, economical and sustainable solution…
Today, March 29, 2023 - The 7th Birthday
The concept of using liquid-based brake pads – i.e., producing them without pressure and without high thermal processes – has been proven. The friction linings save over 85 % CO2 and are almost emission-free in city traffic and therefore optimized for the future particulate matter regulations (PM10). Due to the low temperatures, sensors can be cast in and due to the simple casting technique, there are large savings for tools and further processing. Small-scale production lines are now possible – even for highest performance, such as in racing. The low weight also plays a major role here.
The LIQFRIC system has a modular structure and can be installed on site at any production facility worldwide to shorten transport routes. A recycling concept has also already been tested. After the lining has been changed for maintenance, the remaining valuable raw materials can be reused to a large extent.
LIQFRIC starts serial production
With commitment and the aim of meeting the needs of the intelligent, economical, sustainable industry, the first certified production plant for initially 500,000 units is to be put into operation with a well-known partner in autumn 2024.

FUTURE OF FRICTION
